Our History
OUR HISTORY
When Maximilian of Habsburg arrived in Mexico in 1864 there were no breweries in the country, the local drinks were mainly fermented. Maximilian brought the first breweries to turn beer into the drink of the upper social classes.
At that time, the carts that transported beer were stolen by bandits. To prevent this, Maximiliano appointed the Charros as the PROTECTORS OF THE BEER, since they were the only ones with permission to ride a horse and carry a revolver.
This legend inspired us to protect Mexican beer, its ingredients, processes and to deliver a product of the highest quality.

OUR BEER
MADE USING ONLY 4 INGREDIENTES OF THE HIGHEST QUALITY:
Premium malts
Purified spring water from the Nevado de Toluca volcano
Hand-picked hops
Austrian yeast
TASTING NOTES:
Elegant, refreshing and with a medium body. Its color is crystalline amber with copper highlights derived from an optimal 60-layer filtration. Beer with notes of caramel, dried fruits and light toasted nuances on the nose.
Beer balanced between refreshing and caramel malts. It has herbal and velvety notes, noble hops are used in its preparation that give a finish reminiscent of traditional Austrian beers..
PERFECT PAIRING:
Fatty cuts of meat such as Tomahawk or Porterhouse. Classic Mexican moles, complex cheeses, risotto and truffled pastas.
TASTING NOTES:
Pilsner beer that is characterized by complying with the German purity law: it can only be made from water, the highest quality barley and 100% hops.
It is elegant, light, refreshing and full-bodied. Its color is crystalline gold. On the palate and nose it stands out for its cereal notes, light honey tones and a floral touch. It is filtered, so it has no sediment.
We achieved a new standard of the highest quality, maintaining the purity and characteristics of a Mexican beer: easy to drink, light and refreshing.
PERFECT PAIRING:
Iberian acorn-fed ham, bull tuna niguiri, ceviches, cooked fish, prime cuts of beef, Wagyu ribeye, Kobe ribeye.

AWARDS
In 2021, our label design was awarded World's Best Label Design at the World Beer Awards, as well as bronze in Best Bottle Design.
After winning the Bronze medal for 2 consecutive years, our beer was awarded the Gold medal by the World Beer Awards 2023 for having one of the best liquids in the world.
We are the first and only Mexican beer to receive the Superior Taste Award from Belgium, awarded by chefs and sommeliers from Michelin restaurants.
In a competition between the best drinks in America, Charro beer stood out among Mexican beers to take the Bronze medal at the ARO ROJO 2024 awards ceremony.
OUR
COLLABORATION
We mature our Charro Imperial Plisner Beer in French oak barrels for at least three months to develop its unique character and imbue the wood with the magic of barley. When Cerveza Charro is ready, it is removed from the barrel and its place is occupied by José Cuervo Tradicional Reposado Tequila for a few months, which gives the tequila soft notes of cereals, chocolate and honey, and the light toasted nuances of our beer.
